This is the second installment in honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. While looking into the various organizations that raise money specifically for pediatric cancer research, one name came up several times: St. Baldrick's. I was interested and very surprised to learn from Charity Navigator that "St. Baldrick's Foundation began in 2000 as a challenge between friends and has since grown into the world's largest volunteer- powered, donor centered fundraising program for childhood cancer research. The foundation now funds more childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government." Pretty impressive! Their signature events involve shaving the heads of volunteers who have raised money. Interested in raising money for pediatric cancer research with your company or group? There's information on the St. Baldrick's website.
